Conceptualised by Ananya Kala Designed by Kalyanmal Sahu

Part of a rare, handpainted, limited edition collection Past.Present.Future., this art plate is inspired by the Pichwai Art form and celebrates Ghasiram Hardev Sharma, the chief painter and photographer of Nathdwara during the 19th and 20th century.

Material: High-quality ceramic plate

Size: 10 Inches

Weight: 800 gms

Box Includes: Foldable display stand, Pre-attached wall mount, a specially illustrated collection card insert, Authenticity certificate "

Situated on the banks of River Banas, the pilgrimage town of Nathdwara, welcomed their Mukhya or Chief Painter and Photographer, Ghasiram Hardev Sharma in the late 19th and early 20th century. It was the artist’s intricate floral murals spanning Raja of Jhalwar’s entire palace that marked his ascent to the role.

Taking inspiration from the religious life around him, Ghasiram’s paintings often represented the intricate architecture of the temples and the Pichwai artworks that adorned the walls. His depictions included important festivals, changing seasons and the myriad times of day, a unique feature of the art form. Providing insight into the religious life at Nathdwara, the paintings also portray worshippers carrying out rituals, the religious artefacts used and the traditional jewellery that adorned the idols.

Owing to Lord Krishna’s form in the spiritual world of ‘Goloka’ and His childhood love for cows, the artform, often includes cows adorned with jewellery or peacock feathers. The lotus is another recurring motif with Krishna’s home, ‘Goloka’, being in the shape of a lotus, which is symbolic of the transcendence beyond material life.
