Midnight swim
by Apoorva
It was a hot and humid night in the month of May. Not a blade of grass or leaf was moving. The monsoon rains were still a few days away. How does one find respite?
Two figures were walking on a lonely footpath leading to the centre of a forest. With no human habitation for miles around, light from the stars was just enough for them to see the path ahead.
He gestured her to walk a little faster. In a few moments, they were at their destination: a lonely lake right in the centre of the forest.
He undressed himself and went in first. Soon she followed. They were in a different world now. Away from the heat, suffering and sorrows.
In a world that was full of love and laughter. A world that belonged to them. And them only.
