The flower seller

Dressed in a white shirt, pyjamas and a Gandhi cap, he stood there, waiting for customers.

Carrying a dozen or two marigold garlands in his hands and a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

For the last two-three days, he wasn’t able to sell all that he bought from the wholesale market and had to bear losses.

He had heard that an invisible enemy, originated a few thousand miles away, is causing this panic and robbing millions like him of their bread and butter.

But he stood there, like a soldier guarding his frontier post.

There was no enemy big enough for his grit.
