The artwork highlights the presence of Deaf people on Earth and not just hearing people. She uses this metaphorically to show that not all animals and birds are perfect. The artist invites the viewer to imagine some exotic birds are deaf like her community, and their wings can sign. The artwork stems from her personal experience with communication barriers while growing up.
